This Week In Montreal
Festivals galore! While this year’s Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival may be coming to an end this week with performances by Chad VanGaalen, The Strange Boys, Dirty Beaches, D’Eon and more, this week also marks the beginning of this year’s Montreal Jazz Festival. And what better way to kick off this year’s fest than with back to back performances by the legendary Prince at Metropolis. But don’t get too excited unless you already have tickets because both nights are sold out. There are also some great smaller shows going on this week at Club Lambi, Il Motore and Cabaret Mile End so be sure to check them out as well. M For Montreal Day 2 – 11.19.10
Friday night was Cabaret Juste Pour Rire’s last time hosting M for Montreal as, unfortunately, they will be closing down some time next month – but that’s not the only thing that made it a memorable night. Attendees of day 2 of the annual local music showcase were treated to a diverse array of top-rate local musical acts Random Recipe, SUUNS, Valleys, METZ, The Barr Brothers, and Molly Rankin. Let The Festival Begin!
Always one of the biggest dates on our must see calendar, the wonderful M For Montreal Festival that takes place every year in our great city kicks off tonight. Over the next three nights we will hear from some of Montreal’s finest musicians along with some great out of town talent. The culmination of this year’s fest will take place on Saturday at Metropolis with performances by The Dears, La Patere Rose, Misteur Vallaire and more. Pop Montreal & Partners in Health Haiti Benefit Concert – Club Lambi – January 17th, 2010
Last night, Club Lambi hosted Pop Montreal’s benefit show for Haiti, with all proceeds going to Partners in Health. Partners in Health is a United-States based organization that supply health services to Haitians for over twenty years ago. Not only do they focus on the citizen’s health issues, they try as much as possible to create a safer, healthier living environment to improve their overall quality of life. This night at Lambi embodied everything that PIH stands for.
