With the Jazz Fest wrapping up tonight, it appears things are going to slow down this week in Montreal. After the B-52s and Rich Aucoin close out the festival with free shows tonight at the Scene TD and the Scene Bell in downtown Montreal, there are a select few shows that we feel are worth checking out this week. Sam Mickens at Sala Rossa on Wednesday is a show that you should definitely consider, along with the Callers show on Friday at Casa Del Popolo and Pink Moth on Sunday at Casa. This Week In Montreal

The big guns are coming out to play this week in Montreal. Besides a slew of great smaller shows happening around the city, this week there are a couple of blockbuster shows that many people have been counting down the days to. Firstly, The Pixies will play back to back nights at Metropolis on Wednesday and Thursday with Imaginary Cities. Then on Friday at Le National we’ve got one of the best lineups we’ve seen in a long time with Black Lips, Vivian Girls and Davila 666 taking the stage. Saturday we’ve got Timber Timbre playing at Corona Theatre and TV on the Radio will cap things off at Metropolis on Sunday. We hope you’ve saved up!

This week will start off with a bang because tonight, indie rock giants, The Decemberists, will make their long awaited return to Montreal in support of their excellent new album, The King Is Dead. The rest of the week will provide us with some great local shows like, The Lindbergh Line, Couples and Reversing Falls on Tuesday at Casa Del Popolo as well as Shortpants Romance on Saturday at Divan Orange. But perhaps the hottest show of the week will be another Saturday night show, when Best Coast, Wavves and Montreal’s No Joy take the stage at the Cabaret Mile End. Hot Hot Hot – Le Belmont – 10.16.10

The year  of 2002 was a turning point for BC pop rock band Hot Hot Heat. That year, they released their critically acclaimed album, Make Up the Breakdown. They rapidly rose to the top of the charts, with singles “Bandages” and “Talk to Me, Dance With Me” on heavy rotation. But that was eight years ago and, in the music industry, that’s practically an eternity. Since then we might have heard things here and there about a new album or tour, but they have been mostly off the radar. But it’s 2010 and the band is prepared to make a revival as they headlined at Le Belmont last Saturday in Montreal, with Rich Aucoin and Hey Rosetta! on as support. Read more…
