Day 1 of Osheaga 2010 is in the books and I think we can all safely say that it was a huge success. Great music, perfect weather, good food, lots of free stuff and a grand finale of Arcade Fire is enough to make anyone giddy, but this day was much more than a long wait for Arcade Fire to play. We’ve gone on and on about how good this year’s Osheaga Festival is promising to be. The initial lineup boasted some incredible acts like Arcade Fire, Stars, Pavement and The National. So it appears that summer has arrived in Montreal, bringing with it enough ice cream, cold brews, picnics and BBQs to liven up your weekends. As much as we all love lounging in parks and terasses across town, we can’t forget that summer is not complete without its requisite tunes. So for a brief moment, drop that frisbee and come check out some of the bands that will visiting Montreal this week. If there is one show not to miss it would be LCD Soundsystem, whose new LP This Is Happening is sure to become part of your summer soundtrack. Stars Release Another New Song, Play Montreal Apple Store

Are you ready for the return of everyone’s favourite Canadian pop group? Well maybe not everyone’s, but Stars are certainly favourites of ours. Not too long ago Stars released “Fixed“; a first taste from the band’s forthcoming LP, entitled The Five Ghosts (Out June 22nd on Soft Revolution/Vagrant). Montreal’s own The Besnard Lakes have come out with their follow up to their 2007 Polaris Music Prize nominated album, The Besnard Lakes are the Dark Horse. This time around The Besnard Lakes are The Roaring Night tells the story of spies and double agents as they fight against one another in a potentially false war. It is a dreamy, fuzzy yet romantic trip to a surreal world worth all of the repeated listens that it will get.
