Intensive Care Return With New Songs, Website and Live Date
Those loud experimental Montreal rockers that go by the name Intensive Care have been holed away for the last little while, working like beavers on some new music for us and it’s finally time to hear the fruits of their labour. Along with a brand new website, the band is offering up three new tracks for their forthcoming sophomore LP. We’ve got the tracks streaming after the jump.
The Besnard Lakes + SUUNS + VALLEYS – Cabaret du Mile End – 01.15.11
Cabaret du Mile End filled in quickly last snowy Saturday night for the Besnard Lakes show, which was to be one of their last – for a while, at least. Our friends VALLEYS – who we’ve reviewed a couple times before – were first to the stage.
This Week In Montreal
After a slow start to 2011, things really get going this week in Montreal with some really promising shows lined up. Twin Shadow makes his return to Montreal on Tuesday, and later in the week we will hear from The Besnard Lakes, VALLEYS and SUUNS. Then, to cap things off on Sunday, you can check out Tokyo Police Club and Two Door Cinema Club who will be co-headlining at Club Soda. There’s also a few interesting local acts taking the stage this week so be sure to check out those as well.
First Shows of the New Year
Hey there, nice to see you again. We’re glad to be back after a nice and long vacation and wish you all a happy new year! This Week in Montreal
Halloween is simultaneously one of the most anticipated and dreaded times of the year. A time when social mores lapse, women feel compelled to walk around in a G-string, and drunken buffoonery clouds the Montreal cityscape. This week’s shows offer us refuge to escape the Halloween pandemonium or if you prefer, an opportunity to debut your Lady Gaga meat dress. The week kicks tonight with performances by Dan Mangan and Die Antwoord (we have a feeling you’ll be seeing more than a few Ninja and Yo-Landi inspired costumes this week). On Hallows Eve, you can make your way over to Il Motore to check out Diamond Rings or to La Sala Rossa to see The Vaselines who are in town to promote their new album Sex with an X. Keep on reading for more show highlights this week including Yukon Blonde, Candy Claws and Matt & Kim.
