This Week In Montreal
Montrealers should really feel lucky this week. Let’s face it, how many times do we have Tony Bennett, Dave Brubeck, Peter Frampton and Kaki King playing at the same time as Hey Ocean!, The Dears, White Denim, Mazes, Jaga Jazzist, The Roots and Weezer. The Jazz Fest takes full swing this week with a variety of amazing shows going on all over the city. You may have trouble deciding what to see this week due to the volume of great shows but we hope to make things a little easier by giving you our highlights for the week. Read more…
Upcoming Releases
We’ve already looked back upon the last year in our Best of 2010 series. Now it’s time to look to the future. The new year is already looking quite promising with lots of great new releases lined up by some of the brightest stars in the indie music scene. The 90s are also making a return this year so if there’s a piece of you that’s yearning for some new Jane’s Addiction or No Doubt, there is good news for you too. M For Montreal Day 3 – 11.20.10
The annual M For Montreal Festival wrapped up Saturday night at Metropolis. As was the story on the first two nights of the fesitval, this night would again feature an extremely eclectic variety of musical genres ranging from indie rock, to franco-pop to heavy metal. Let The Festival Begin!
Always one of the biggest dates on our must see calendar, the wonderful M For Montreal Festival that takes place every year in our great city kicks off tonight. Over the next three nights we will hear from some of Montreal’s finest musicians along with some great out of town talent. The culmination of this year’s fest will take place on Saturday at Metropolis with performances by The Dears, La Patere Rose, Misteur Vallaire and more. This Week in Montreal
There is so much going on this week, we don’t know where to start. Tunng kicks off this busy week tonight at Casa Del Popolo. To get a little more acquainted with Tuung check out our interview with the UK experimental pop group HERE. By now, we’re pretty sure you’ve come across Aloe Blacc‘s infectious single “I Need A Dollar.” Lucky for us, the soulful Mr. Blacc will be playing at Le Belmont. Pop Montreal Nights: Part 3
Friday night at Pop Montreal was a night of very tough decisions. It just so happened that The xx, Timber Timbre, Deerhoof and The Dears were all playing more or less simultaneously. So after some deliberation we went with hometown heroes, The Dears. This was after all the bands third and final show at this year’s festival and after missing them the first two nights, Friday night turned out to be all about The Dears.

This Week in Montreal: POP Special Edition
It’s time to rest up. This Wednesday marks the start of the 9th annual POP Montreal Festival, and there’s lots to see in the following 5 days.
