It’s that time of year again! That’s right, we are only just over a week away from our city’s best music festival. Since Pop Montreal‘s inception back in 2002 it has continued to grown and get better year after year. This year’s Pop Montreal Festival will run from Wednesday, September 29th through until Sunday, October 3rd and it’s looking like this will be the best year yet. Following the succesful Busking For Change event that took place in Montreal back in March, in which some of Montreal’s finest musicians took to the streets and subway platforms in order to raise money for children affected by war, it has just been announced that Warchild will be bringing Busking For Change to this year’s Osheaga Festival in an effort to keep the philanthropy going. TV On The Radio Design Shirt for Montreal Charity

As if TV on the Radio weren’t already cool enough, the Brooklyn based 5-piece has recently designed a lovely new t-shirt for our friends at The Yellow Bird Project. The proceeds from the shirt will go to Partners in Health, an organization that has been one of the leaders in getting Haiti back on it’s feet after the devastating earthquake that hit last month. Busking For Change Montreal

Yesterday you may have noticed that your local busker’s had a little bit of a different aura surrounding them. You may have also noticed unusually large crowds of people gathering around to watch, along with green and red buckets that said War Child on the side. Well, if you hadn’t already guessed, these weren’t just your ordinary buskers. In fact, the buskers that you may have seen at Berri-UQAM and Place Des Arts metro stations and at various locations around the Eaton’s Center yesterday were some of Montreal’s finest musicians and pop stars, playing their hearts out for a very worthy cause.

The schedule for this year’s Busking For Change event, which will take place today at various metro stations around Montreal, has been announced and it contains some pretty notable names. Among the artists that will be performing are Amy Millan (of Stars), Jason Bajada, David Martel, Patrick Krief (ex-guitarist of The Dears) and Winter Gloves.
